William E. Summerville, age 83, of Luzerne, passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Graveside service will be held at Luzerne Cemetery on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at 11:30 AM, with military honors being offered by the Luzerne American Legion Post #162.
William was born on March 6, 1927 to Edward Charles and Marie S. (Smith) Summerville in Detroit, MI. He served his country in the US Navy from 1945-1947 during WWII. He owned and operated Blue Water Tackle in Farmington, MI. He later manufactured ice fishing rods. William retired to Luzerne in 1993. He was a member of the Luzerne American Legion Post #162. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, reading, and quiet activities
William is survived by his son John Summerville and his wife Danna Johnson of Midlothian, VA; his daughter Jill Silverstein and her husband David of Boston, MA; and his 2 grandchildren: Steven Summerville and Lesley Summerville. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Barbara; his second wife Merry Ann; and his sister Shirley Tressler.
