Virgil Dean Kauffman, 91, of Fairview, Michigan, passed away on August 27th 2024 at Trinity Hospital, Grand Rapids Michigan. Born on October 7th 1932 in West Liberty, Ohio, he was the son of Lee and Freda Kauffman. He met and married Leola Gage while living in Dafter Michigan. He dearly loved his children and grandchildren and made new friends wherever he went. Virgil was an avid reader, enjoyed teaching Sunday School and serving in his church, as well as hunting, gardening, and woodworking.

He is survived by his brother Melvin (Mary); four sisters-in-law Delpha Johnson, Hildia Ball, Lovinia Ferraro (James), and Margaret Gage; five sons Alvin (Dorothy), Darrel (Laurie), Terry, Ricky (Lisa), and Brian; twelve grandchildren Lee (Leah), Ben (Molly), Tara Tucker (Collin), Jessica Wanberg (Dylan), Kelvin, Elizabeth, Miranda Dilree (Robert), Zachary, Gannon, David, Joshua Page (Megan), Caitlynn Page; and twelve great grandchildren Valerius, Ambrose, Corin, Atticus, Sarah, Phoebe, Benson, Eden, Tiffany, Kelli, Lorelai, and Grayson.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held on September 28th, 2024 at Fairview Mennonite Church. Visitation at 11 o’clock, ceremony at 12 noon with a luncheon to follow. Friends and family are invited to attend and celebrate his life. The service can be viewed live on the church YouTube channel, Fairview Mennonite Church @fairviewmennonitechurch9889. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts are suggested to Fairview Mennonite Church or World Missionary Press (www.wmpress.org). Internment at Bowne Mennonite Church will take place at a later date.
