Mr. Vernon H. Willobee, age 97, of Luzerne, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at The Home at AuSable Valley Community in Fairview.
Visitation from 12 Noon - 2 P.M. Sunday, November 9, 2008 at the Mio Seventh-day Adventist Church with funeral services following at 2 P.M. with Pastor David Jorgensen officiating. Interment at Luzerne Cemetery.
Mr. Willobee was born on September 6, 1911 in West Branch, Ml to Grant and Ethel (Persons) Willobee. Vernon was raised in Luzerne. He married Leona Bugbee on February 22, 1932 in Mio. They lived in Oscoda County until 1972, moved to Trout Lake, Ml, and returned to Luzerne in 1985. Leona preceded Vernon in death in 1994. He married Bessie (Pierce) Oliver on October 29, 1995 in Mio. Vemon was a member of the Mio Seventh Day Adventist Church. He enjoyed fishing and his fishing trips to Canada.
Mr. Willobee is survived by his wife Bessie; his children: Ronald (Barbara) Willobee and Gerald Willobee, both of Trout Lake, Ml; and Donald (Joyce) Willobee of Rudyard, Ml; his sister Thelma Bugbee of Shepard, Ml; his brothers: Edward (Irene) Willobee, Charles Willobee, and Clare (Betty) Willobee, all of Luzerne, Ml; 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Vernon was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Leona; 2 sons: Leonard and Richard; his daughter: Lucille Layman; his 2 sisters: Gladys (Art) O'Conner and Betty (George) Emery; his brother Jack (Leona) Willobee; and his brother-in-law Lewis Bugbee.
Memorials may be made to the Mio Seventh-day Adventist Church in Vernon's memory. Arrangements by Lashley Funeral Home, Mio.
