Vernon "Bud" Lee Abbe

Vernon (Bud) Lee Abbe, 90, of Mio, MI, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2025 McLaren Bay Region Hospital, Bay City, MI. He was born in Luzerne, MI on January 19, 1935 to the late Claude and Lillian (Cohoon) Abbe. He graduated from Mio AuSable High School, class of 1953. Bud worked for 2 years on the Great Lakes in the engine rooms of various ore freighters. He became a plumber and spent his career in that trade, working in many places in Michigan and in other states. After retirement, he managed Northwest Plumbing and Heating for many years. Bud was a member of Mio Baptist Church and the Detroit Plumbers Local 98. He was a man of faith and integrity whose unfailing kindness and love are a last legacy to his children, his grandchildren, and his great-grandchildren.

Bud is survived by his children, Linda (John) Esch, Gwen Hodapp, George (Richele) Hofsommer, Ray (Lunette) Caples; sisters, Joan (Doran) Hildebrand, and Deborah Bretall; 20 grandchildren, and 36 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wives, Betty Ann Abbe, Mariam Abbe, and Beverly Abbe, son, Greg Abbe, grandson, Addison Esch, and great-grandson, Jonas Bollon.

Visitation Saturday, December 20. 2025 from 10:00 AM until the time of Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at the Mio Baptist Church, with Rev. Glynn McMorris officiating. Interment to follow at the Fairview Cemetery, Fairview, MI.
