Vera Anna Henrich, age 87, of Comins, MI, formerly of Detroit, MI, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2012 at her home.
Vera was born in Detroit, MI on July 15, 1924 to Carl C. and Alma (Rentz) Henrich. She worked for Faith Lutheran Church in Detroit and also worked as an Assistant Controller for The Lutheran World Federation- serving and living in Geneva, Switzerland and Ethiopia. She retired in 1988 and moved to Comins in 1990 from Detroit. She was a member of the Comins Mennonite Church, the Comins Eagles Aerie #3544, the AuSable Valley Nursing Home Auxiliary, the Friends of Steiner Museum, and the Audubon Society and was also active in the Oscoda County Recycling Program. Vera had enjoyed hiking, skiing, being outdoors, gardening, and rock collecting.
Surviving are her nephew Michael C. (Marsha) Taylor of Comins, MI; her grand nephew and grand niece: Michael D. (Annette) Taylor of Comins, MI and Vicky (Mike) Breaugh of Mio, MI; and her great grand nieces and nephews: Travis Vizina, Tabitha Breaugh, Morgan Breaugh, and Michael J. Taylor. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers: Joseph and Marvin Henrich; and her sister Gretchen (Martin) Taylor.
Visitation Saturday, March 3, 2012 from 3:00-7:00 PM at Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI, and again on Sunday, March 4, 2012 from 3:00 PM until the time of Funeral Services at 4:00 PM at the Comins Mennonite Church with Pastor Kevin Salsbury officiating. In accordance with Veraâ??s wishes, cremation will take place following the funeral service. A Committal of Ashes will take place in the spring at Comins Cemetery.
