Thomas W. Cotter, age 81 of Mio, MI, passed away at St. Mary's Medical Center in Saginaw, MI on
Sunday, December 13, 2015.
Thomas was born in Pond Switch, Tennessee on June 16, 1934 to Richard and Margaret (Crutcher)
Cotter. He moved to Ferndale, MI when he was 17 years old. Thomas served his country in the US
Army. He married Gail Putnam on February 14, 1959 in Northville, MI. Thomas worked for Ford Motor
Company-Sterling Plant for 30 years, retiring in 1983. He and Gail settled in Mio in 1984 to their cabin.
Thomas was a member of the Mio New Hope Assembly of God Church. He enjoyed wood cutting and
blackberry picking.
Thomas is survived by his wife Gail of Mio, MI; his children: Thomas Cotter of Mio, MI; Daniel (Janet)
Cotter of Commerce Twp., MI; Donald (Dawn) Cotter of Canton, MI; Beth (Gareth) Oaks of Fairview, MI;
and Shane (Nicole) Cotter of New Castle, PA; his sister Wilma Jean; his grandchildren: Andrea, Michael,
Brian, Amy, L.J., Sara, Amanda, Hannah, Hailey, Catherine, Britany, Noah, Gideon, Chase, Micah, Kaylee,
Joel, Levi, and Luke; and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3
brothers, and 2 sisters.
Visitation on Thursday, December 17, 2015 from 3 - 8 PM at Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI; and again
from 12 Noon until Funeral Services at 1 PM on Friday, December 18, 2015 at Mio New Hope Assembly
of God Church with Pastor Richard Beaudrie officiating. Interment will follow at Kittle Cemetery, Mio,
MI.
Memorial donations may be made to Mio New Hope Assembly of God Church.
