Teresa Lynne Dempsey

Teresa Lynne (Money) Dempsey died peacefully at Wellsprings Lutheran Home on Saturday January 21, 2017 in Fairview, Michigan at the age of 56 after a long, hard-fought battle with cancer.
Teresa is survived by her partner for the last eight years, Arthur Haberland, of Comins, MI; her children, Melissa Dempsey and Derek (Brittany) Dempsey; their father, David Dempsey ; her grandchildren Austin Dempsey, Taylor Dempsey, Abbigail Dempsey, Ethan Cook, Breanna Dempsey all of Louisville, KY. Also surviving her are siblings Gary (Carol) Money, Pensacola, FL; Vidda “Jeannie” (Jim) Karow, Glendale, AZ; Kevin (Jodee) Money; Mio, MI. She was predeceased by her parents, grandparents, and special cousin Jackie Kwascigroh.
Teresa was born on September 5, 1960 in Lapeer, MI to Glendon “Keith” Money and LaVetta Carpenter Money. The family moved back to Mio shortly afterward. Teresa attended Mio AuSable School with the class of 1978. After her class graduated, Teresa worked as a nurse aide at Ausable Valley Nursing Home in Fairview. She left Mio and eventually ended up in Louisville, KY. She and David had two children and Teresa was a stay at home mom but eventually went back to work after the children were in school as a CNA. She then returned to school as well and earned her GED first and then going on to graduate as an LPN. She was working in a brain injury trauma unit when she left Louisville and returned to Mio in 2007.
Teresa loved to read anything she could get her hands on, have bonfires, fish, morel mushroom picking, swimming, and playing cards – especially cribbage and solitaire. Being with family was important to her as well.
In accordance with her wishe, cremation has taken place. A memorial service and celebration of her life will take place at a later date. The family would like to thank Hospice of Michigan, Alpena Area for their wonderful assistance through the end stages of Teresa’s life.
