Teena G. Bruner

Teena G. Bruner, age 55 of Mio, Michigan, passed away Monday, February 23, 2015 in Ocala, Florida.
Teena was born on October 5, 1959 to George and Mabel (Kent) Keen in Flint, Michigan, and moved to Mio as a young child. Teena attended Mio AuSable Schools, and graduated with the Class of 1978. She married Ronald Bruner in Mio on July 15, 1978. The couple lived in Pomona, CA from 1980-1981, where Teena received her LVN Nursing Degree from Lyman School of Nursing in 1980. They returned to Mio, where both were very active in the community. Teena had served 2 terms as a County Commissioner; was a member of the Tri-Town Fire Belles for 30 years; had played softball for the Mug & Jug Ladies League; and worked as a Paraprofessional for Mio AuSable Schools; beginning her career as a volunteer for 4 years before becoming a paid Paraprofessional, a position she held for 25 years. She and Ron retired to Ocala, FL, where Teena had worked for Village View Christian Academy in Summerfield, FL; where she again worked with children, those with special needs. Teena will always be remembered for her dedication and love for children. She was always proud of her “children” and loved watching their growth and maturity. She loved it when they returned to school after graduation and she could see how much they’d grown.
Surviving are her husband Ronald of Mio, MI; her daughter Emilee Bruner of Flint, MI; her sister Debby Layman of Flint, MI; her brother Robert (Marilyn) Zubke of Burton, MI; her expected granddaughter Rylee Jo Coleman; many nieces and nephews; and her dear friends Linda Jagiello, Jen Chartier, and Joeli Ballard. She will also be missed by all of her new friends that she had met at Tropicana Village in Ocala, FL. Teena was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Bill Zubke.

Visitation Monday, March 2, 2015 from 6:00 - 9:00 PM at Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI; and on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 from 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM, also at Lashley Funeral Home. On Wednesday, March 4, 2015, Teena will lie in state from 4:00 PM until the time of Funeral Services at 5:00 PM at Mio AuSable Schools, with Frank Beek officiating. In accordance with Teena's wishes, cremation will follow the funeral Service. Interment of ashes will be at a later date at Mentor Township Cemetery, Mio.
