Ted Allen Emig

Ted A. Emig of Comins, Michigan passed away February 25, 2025 at the age of 68 at Midland Medical Center, Midland, Michigan, surrounded by his family. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Tammy Emig who passed on February 4, 2023, his parents Wilbert and Velma (Harter) Emig, his sister Gaye (Emig) Maurer, and his brothers Donald Emig and Marshall Emig. Ted is survived by his sons Joshua R Emig of Atlanta, MI, Michael E Emig of Grand Rapids, MI, and his granddaughter Ruby R Emig. He is also survived by his brother Stuart (Sue) Emig of Comins, MI, and his sister Mona (Carey) Lee of Saginaw, MI, as well as numerous loving nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.


Ted was born on September 1, 1956 in Comins Michigan to Wilber and Velma Emig. Ted graduated from Fairview Area Schools in 1974. He married Tammy R Maurer, the love of his life, on May 2, 1977. Before spending the next 7 years in the Air Force, Ted lived and worked in Oscoda County. During his service Ted was stationed in Korea for one year before being assigned to Wright-Patt AFB in Dayton, OH. After separating from the service he returned to Comins with Tammy to raise their children at which time he became a member of the USPS in Oscoda County until his retirement. Ted was an extremely active and beloved member of his community who was involved with and supported many local events including Open Mike, The Steiner Museum, and many other notable endeavors throughout the area. Ted’s devotion to others was unmatched as he became known through his volunteer work, helping others through odd jobs and the like. He will be missed by many whose lives he has touched either through the work of his hands or by the force of his kindness.


Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 from 5 - 8 PM at the Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, Michigan. Ted will also lie in state on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 from 12 Noon until the time of Funeral services at 1 PM at the Comins Community Church, Comins, Michigan, with Pastor Kevin Salsbury officiating. A Committal service will follow the funeral at Clinton Township Cemetery, Comins, Michigan.
