Shirley Brown

Shirley June ""Nan"" Brown, age 77, of Mio, passed away at The Home at AuSable Valley Community, Fairview on Monday, October 15, 2012.
Shirley was born in Fairview, MI on August 9, 1935 to Edgar D. and Marie May (Gusler) Hunsberger.  She had worked as a waitress at Brownâ??s Restaurant in Mio; had also worked at Cricketâ??s Dress Shop; and had owned and operated Shirleyâ??s Day Care in Mio for 25 years.  Shirley enjoyed cooking, crocheting, crafting, sewing, and ceramics.
Surviving are her children: Jeannette (Tom) McVeigh and Lyle E. (Janet) Brown, both of Mio (and their father Elgin G. Brown, Jr.) ; daughter-in-law Lori Brown of Port Charlotte, FL; sisters: Violet Neff and Gail Johns; and her brother-in-law John Lee.; her grandchildren: Danielle (Doug) Miller, Todd (Jenny) McVeigh, Krystle Brown (Mike Whittier), Megan Brown, Ryan Brown, and Brett Brown; her step great-grandchildren:  Ethan, Madison, Breanna, and Logan; 3 expected great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her son Kyle Brown; and her sisters: Betty Jean Hunsberger, Fern Lee, and Sally Brown.
Visitation Wednesday, October 17, 2012 from 4:00 PM until the time of Funeral Services at 7:00 PM at Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, with Chaplain Alfred Pillarelli officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Interment of ashes will take place at Mentor Township Cemetery, Mio, at a later date.
