Samuel was born in Haven, Kansas to Levi J. and Fannie (Stutzman) Borntrager. He owned and operated his own small engine repair shop for many years.
Samuel leaves to mourn: his wife Savannah, his children: Alton & Emma Borntrager of Humansville, MO; Samuel & Susan Borntrager of Charlotte, MI; and Mary & Melvin Hostetler of Milton, IA; 20 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, his sister Fannie (Borntrager) Detweiler, and his sister-in-law Ida (Yoder) Borntrager. Also mourning his passing are 5 Stepsons, 3 stepdaughters, 58 step-grandchildren, and 66 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Katie Mabel (Kauffman) Borntrager, his parents Levi J. & Fannie (Stutzman) Borntrager, 6 brothers, 5 sisters, 1 stepdaughter, and 2 step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation on Sunday, February 28, 2021 from 12 Noon – 7 PM at the David Ray Coblentz residence: 7300 W. Kinsel Hwy, Vermontville, MI 49096. Funeral Services at 9 AM on Monday, March 1, 2021, also at the David Ray Coblentz residence, with James Hochstetler officiating. Interment at Rest Haven Cemetery, Charlotte, Michigan.
