Rose C. Savoie

Rose Catherine Savoie, age 83, of Grayling, MI, passed away, unexpectedly, Wednesday, November 26th, 2008 at Munson Medical Center, Traverse City.
She was born in Rudyard, of Michigan's Upper Peninsula, on Sept. 20, 1925. Following her graduation from Rudyard High School, she completed training fromThe Detroit College of Beauty. She married Philip Joseph Savoie on August 28, 1946 and they raised their family of 9 children in Flint and Lennon, Michigan. They moved to Grayling in 1988.
Rose was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where she was a member of St. Mary's Women's Club, served as Eucharistic Minister and cared for the alter linens for many years. She served as a volunteer with The Mercy Hospital Auxiliary for several years. Rose was a talented seamstress and provided alterations for many Grayling residents. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and friend.
Surviving are her 9 Children: June Savoie (Doty Latuszek); Patricia Bryce; Ken (Catherine) Savoie; Cathy (Mark) Krueger; Theresa (Robert) Root; Rebecca (Charles) Goff; Christine (Duane) Averill; Mark (Karen) Savoie and Ann (Rick) Kloska, 27 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 2 sisters: Margaret Price and Sr. Theresa Desrochers and 1 brother: Raymond Desrochers.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Lloyd & Hanora (Haydon) Desrochers, her husband of 60 years: Philip Joseph Savoie, son-in-law Philip Bryce, 2 sisters: Hanora Desrochers and Evelyn Trombley and 2 brothers: Leo and Jim Desrochers.
Visitation Sunday 12-2 & 4-7 PM at St. Mary Catholic Church Grayling with a Wake Service at 4:00 PM and Rosary at 6:30 PM.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary Catholic Church Grayling at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 1st, with Reverend Robert W. Nalley officiating. Interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Grayling, Michigan.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, Grayling or Mercy Hospital Auxiliary.
