Ronald Royce Troyer, born December 18, 1937, died June 27, 2014 at The West Branch Regional Medical Center.
Ron was born in Fairview, MI to Benjamin and (Helen) Marie (Smith) Troyer. After graduating from Fairview
High School, he worked at the Fairview Mobil station as a mechanic, and married the boss's daughter,
Janet (Miller), on August 10, 1958. Janet predeceased him in December 2013. They had been married for 55
years.
He is survived by his brother, Richard Troyer, and his wife Gen. Also by Ron's and Janet's three
children and their offspring: Daughter, Debbie, of Fairview. Her two sons, Benjamin Checola (Texas) and Adam Checola (Massachusetts), along with his wife, Tefia, and their daughter, Chloe. Son, Bradley, of Indiana, and his wife Sherry. Brad has one son, Dustin (Fairview), his wife, Cassie, and their children, Bryce, Isabell, and Aidan. He also has one daughter, Amber Troyer (Indiana.) Sherry has two previous daughters, Molly and Candace. Son, Corey, of Sault Ste. Marie, his wife, Kathy and their son Wyatt. Kathy has two previous children, Kyle Rhoads (and his daughter, Jayden), and Brianna Rhoads.
Ron continued working at the Mobil station, even managing it for a while along with his cousin, Don,
while his father-in-law moved to Mio to be the sheriff. In July of 1969, Ron got ajob with the state
highway department under their Testing and Research Division. This kept him from home during the
week, as they traveled the state drilling test bores for proposed roads and bridges. After several years of
this, he became a maintenance mechanic for the state, working out of Mio. He held this position until
his retirement about 15 years ago. Before he retired, he also worked part time for Willard Miller doing
auto body repairs.
