Ronald Lee Lashley, age 70, of Grayling, MI, passed away Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Mercy Hospital in Grayling, MI.
Ronald was born on September 24, 1941 in Jackson, MI to Earl and Marion (Leedy) Lashley.  He attended Napoleon Schools, and entered the US Army in October, 1962 at age 21.  He married Ruth Ann Crandall on September 10, 1966 in Jackson, MI at the Ackerson Lake Baptist Church.  Ron was a career Army Veteran, serving in the Vietnam War as a Mess Sergeant.  He was also stationed in Colorado Springs, CO, Korea, and in Germany during his military career and was awarded The Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/Palm, Good Conduct Medal w/6th Award, Overseas Service Ribbon (3), Veitnam Service Medal w/1 Bronze Star, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (3) . Upon his retirement from active service in 1982, he worked as a cook in local restaurants for a time.  He returned to school in 1987 and became a Food Service Supervisor for the State of Michigan, working in Grayling at Camp Lehman for 13 years.  He enjoyed Detroit Lions football (whether they won or lost), travelling, mushrooming, going to the casino, camping and watching ANYTHING on TV, especially action and war movies.  Ron will be remembered as a loving family man who loved to tease and pull practical jokes.
Surviving are his wife Ruth of Grayling, MI; his son Greg Lashley of St. Helen, MI; his daughters:  Kerry (Lee) Hannah of Gladwin, MI and Lisa Lashley of St. Helen, MI; 4 grandchildren:  Tony, Jeff, Eric and Elana Lashley; and 3 step grandchildren: Justin, Alex, and Ryan Hannah.  He is also survived by his brothers: Rev.  Richard (Janet) Lashley of Sun City, AZ and Dennis (Reta) Lashley, Sr. of Jackson, MI; his sister Cindy (John) Spurlock of Henderson, KY; his brother and sister-in-law Keith and Sharon Crandall of Gaylord, MI; and his sisters-in-law:  Midge Lashley and Donna Lashley both of Jackson, MI; several nieces and nephews, as well as many great nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents:  Earl and Marion Lashley; his brother David Lashley; and his infant sister Vicky Lashley.
Visitation Tuesday, December 6, 2011from 6:00-9:00 PM at Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI; and again on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM at the Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI, with Funeral Services at 1:00 PM with Pastor Scott Hoffer of the Bear Lake Christian Church officiating.
