Mr. Roger J. ""The Miller Man"" Zion, age 54, of Mio, MI formerly of Monroe, MI, passed away Monday,January 28, 2008 at his home after battling his illness for 3 1/2 years.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends and family are welcome to gather at Lashley Funeral Home, 318 Pearl Street, Mio, Ml, on Saturday, February 2, 2008, from 11:00 A.M., until the time of The Memorial Service at 2:00 P.M with Pastor Hedy Alcock and Kim Chenoweth officiating. Fellowship and luncheon will follow at the American Legion in Luzerne.
On Monday, February 11, 2008, a memorial gathering to celebrate the life of Mr. Zion will be held from 1:00 until 9 P.M. at Angelo's Northwood Villa in Monroe, Ml, located at 6630 S. Dixie Highway, Erie, Ml.
Mr. Zion was born to James C. and Frances Marie (Rickenmann) Zion on August 10, 1953 in Toledo, Ohio. He married Sandra Jean Navarre on December 10, 2000. Roger had worked as a truck driver/salesman in the beer service industry for 30 years and had lived in Mio for the past seven years. Roger was a member of Brest Bay Gun Club in Newport, S.A.L., American Legion Pot 162 Luzerne, the Mio Moose Lodge # 1035 and the Comins Eagles Aerie 3544. Roger enjoyed NASCAR, especially Rusty Wallace and will be lovingly remembered as a great people person. He was known for having a good time and living every day to its fullest.
Mr. Zion is survived by his wife Sandy of Mio; his daughter Karla (Todd) Gifford of Indiana; his son James C. Zion II of Monroe; his step-son John Stevens of California; his mother Frances Marie of Monroe and his three grandchildren Brooke & Jacob Gifford and Zoe Zion. He is also survived by his sister Susan (Lawrence) Wilcousky of Newport; his uncle Roger Rickenmann of Toledo, Ohio; his niece Stephanie (Michael) Toth of Monroe and his nephew Michael Wilcousky of Newport. He was preceded in death by his father James C. Zion.
These arrangements were entrusted to Lashley Funeral Home of Mio, Michigan.
