STREHLE, ROBERT (Bob) ARTHUR of Mio, MI formerly of Pontiac, Mi. passed away Wednesday, March 18th, 2009, at the AuSable Valley Manor in Fairview, Michigan.
The funeral service will be at 3pm, Saturday, March 21st, 2009 at Lashley Funeral Home, in Mio, with Minister Frank Beek officiating. Interment at Mentor Twp Cemetery, Mio, Michigan with Military Honors by Mio VFW Post # 4126.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, from 10 am until the time of service at 3 pm. Bob was born the eldest of 4 children, Jan 29, 1925 in Pontiac, Mi. the son of Arthur and
Helen (Wright) Strehle. He graduated from Pontiac Central H.S. in 1943, and inducted into the U.S. Army 2 months later. Bob attended the Armies Citadel in Georgia, served in the European theatreâ??s ""Battle of the Bulge"", was captured Dec 24, 1944 and became a Prisoner of War until his release 2 days following VE day in May, 1945. He graduated from Wayne State Universityâ??s School of Engineering in Detroit, Mi. Bob was employed with General Motors Truck and Coach Division with 38 years service. Bob and Maxine (Bentley) were united in marriage June 23, 1951 in Lakeville, Mich. He leaves to cherish his memory, children Debra (Teri) Burns of Kalkaska, Delma (Tim) Yost of Mio, Dale (Jalane) Strehle of Grand Blanc, Diane (Frank) Beek of Mio, Daniel Strehle of Dexter. 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, his sister Elinor (Harold) Rescoe along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and too many friends. Bob was preceded in death by his eldest son Douglas Robert, his parents, Art and Helen, his beloved wife Maxine, his brother Fredrick and sister, Joan Davis and two still born daughters Donna May and Denise Maxine.
