Robert E. Steberl, age 95 of Mio, Michigan, passed away at Grayling Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Grayling, Michigan on Thursday, October 20, 2016.
Bob was born in Dayton, Ohio on January 14, 1921 to Ernest and Myrtia (Bowles) Steberl. He married Velma on June 21, 1944 in Maysville, KY. He worked for NCR in Daytona, OH, and moved to Mio, Michigan in 1945. Bob owned and operated Bob’s Osceola Station, beginning in 1962. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church of Mio, MI; the Mio Knights of Columbus #7329 and 4th Degree Assembly # 2371; and also a member of the Mio Odd Fellow Lodge 413.
Bob is survived by his 4 sisters, 23 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, 43 great-great grandchildren, and 2 great-great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Velma; his daughter Wanda Berney; his sons: Reid Hobbs and Howard Hobbs; 7 grandchildren, 1 great grandson, 3 sisters and 4 brothers.
Visitation on Monday, October 24, 2016 from 4 – 8 PM at the Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI, with a Vigil Prayer Service offered by St. Mary Catholic Church and a Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Service beginning at 7 PM. Robert will also lie in state on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 from 10 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church with Fr. Dave Greka officiating. Interment will follow the Mass at Mentor Township Cemetery, Mio, Michigan.
Memorial donations may be made to the St. Mary Catholic Church Shrine Fund.
