Robert Charles Buchanan, age 86 of Luzerne, Michigan, passed away at his home on Friday, June 14, 2013.
Robert was born in Luzerne, Michigan on December 25, 1926 to Arthur and Jenny Mae (Teets) Buchanan. The son of a cowboy, he lived his whole life in Michigan. Robert had different jobs in his lifetime. He was a butcher, a mailman, a jeweler, a movie theater operator, and a horologist. He was a farmer and a philosopher. His best-loved role was husband to his beloved wife of 64 years, Marian (Herpel) Buchanan and his most important job was father to his three children: David Buchanan and wife Barbara of New York; Kathy Schram and husband Tim of Luzerne, MI; and Jennie Denstedt and husband Eugene of Luzerne, MI. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Misty Buchanan, Nicole Buchanan, Emily Parker, Matthew Arnold, Debra & Garfield Rowe, Ira & Tracey Scram, Emily & Nathan McCloud, Angel & Tim Moore, Shawn Denstedt, Drew Denstedt, and foster sons Shaun and Nick Nankervis. His great grandchildren: Madelyn, Claudia, Kristen, Rachel, Amanda, Maire, Tia, Eve, Amelie, Zachary, Ezekiel, Jayden, and Sebastian; his great great-granddaughter Alice; his sisters: Mickey Gusler, Elva Mitchell, Virginia (Jim) Harwood, Ida (Tom) Gross, and Lorna (Richard) Keebaugh; and more than a hundred nieces and nephews also survive him.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Jenny Mae & Arthur Buchanan; his brothers William and Don Troyer; and his sisters Irene Troyer, Lois Mitchell, Evelyn McManus, and Mary Lewis.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service is being arranged to be held in July.
