Richard Childers

Richard Glenn Childers, age 63, of Mio and Ortonville, MI, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at his home.
Richard was born on June 2, 1948 in Pontiac, MI.  He lived most of his life in Ortonville where he worked for General Motors, retiring after 30 years. After he retired, he moved to Mio with his wife Sharon, who he was married to for 23 years.  He enjoyed everything outdoors; whether he participated or watched, especially hunting and fishing.
Richard is survived by his wife Sharon Childers of Mio, MI; his sons:  Rich (April) Childers and Ron (Julie) Childers; his daughters:  Tammy (Gerry) Brinker, Julie (Lanny) Bartlett, and Jackie Young; 10 grandchildren:  Rachelle, Jaennetta, Matthew, Marissa, Ronnie, Mariah, Tatiana, Jared, Alyssa, and Lansdon. He is also survived by his brother Danny (Sandra) Childers; his brother-in-law Earl Simonson; his sister-in-law Cindy Chlders; several nieces and nephews  as well as many great nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents:  Russel and Margurite Childers; his sisters:  Glenda Simonson, Sandy Patterson, Patricia-Ann Childers, and Dellaraye Childers; his brother Rod Childers; and his nephew Donny Patterson.
Visitation Thursday, December 1, 2011 from 11:00 AM-3:00 PM at the Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI, with Funeral Services at 3:00 PM with Chaplain Brandon Rogers officiating.  In accordance with Richardâ??s wishes, cremation will follow the funeral service.   Memorial donations may be made to Mercy Hospice 324 Meadows Drive, Grayling, MI 49738.These arrangements handled by Lashley Funeral Home, Mio.
