Richard A. Bolton, age 76 of Mio, Michigan, passed away at his home on Sunday, December 4, 2016.
Richard was born in Battle Creek, Michigan on March 13, 1940 to Robert and Alice (Boegema) Bolton. He graduated from Battle Creek Lakeview High School, and attended Central Michigan University, from which he received his Bachelor of Science Degree. He moved to Mio, where he taught History and Government for over 30 years. Richard coached football, baseball and basketball, and also officiated at games. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and outdoorsman.
Richard is survived by his children: Kerry Pelton of Traverse City, MI and Brad (Kirsten) Bolton of Blanchard, MI; his sister Bette (William) Webb of Tilghman Island, MD; and his grandchildren: Vittoria Pelton, Avery Pelton, Kendall Bolton, Cooper Bolton, and Ascher Bolton. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Robert Bolton. Richard was followed in death by his best friend Sammy, his Springer Spaniel.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation on Saturday, December 17, 2016 from 12:30 – 2 PM at the Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI, with a Memorial Service at 2 PM with Mr. William Webb officiating.
