Phyllis Kay Canning

Phyllis Kay Canning, age 68 of McKinley, Michigan, formerly of Clarkston, Michigan, passed away at her home on Thursday, November 26, 2015.
Phyllis was born in Tazwell, Tennessee on November 28, 1946 to Dole L. and Ruby (Crocket) Brooks. She moved to Lincoln Park, Michigan in 1967, then settled in Clarkston.  Phyllis worked as an instructional aide for Special Education at Bloomfield Hills Public Schools. She and her husband Tad retired to McKinley in 2012.  She was a member of the McKinley Civic Association.
Phyllis is survived by her husband Tad M. Canning of McKinley, MI, formerly of Clarkston, MI; her children:  Steven (Tammy) Smith of Carleton, MI; James (Kelly) Smith of Tipton, MI; and Susan Papoulias of Novi, MI; 3 grandchildren:  Krista, Kylie, and Cheyanne; and 3 great-grandchildren:  Nathan, Olivia, and Jaxson.  She was preceded in death by her parents and 4 siblings.
Visitation on Sunday, November 29, 2015 from 1 – 4 PM at the Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI. In accordance with her wishes, cremation will follow the visitation.
Memorial Donations may be made to the Michigan Humane Society.
