Paulina Peeters-Pakka, age 95 of Mio, Michigan, passed away in St. Helen, Michigan on Tuesday, January 27, 2015.
Paulina was born in Antwerp, Belgium on June 8, 1919 to Franz and Mathilda (Dierkx) Geeraerts. She moved to Detroit in 1953; working for a time at Saunders Ice Cream. She and her husband Remy were diamond cutters by trade, and soon established their business working with and repairing diamonds for jewelry stores in the Detroit area. Following Remy’s death in 1963, she married Ahti Pakka in 1969. The couple lived in Troy, MI and moved to Mio in 1987. Ahti preceded her in death in 2011. Paulina was a regular visitor at the Senior Center. She enjoyed playing the organ, crocheting, and knitting.
Paulina is survived by her daughter Lucienne M. Peeters-Kann (Bernie); her 3 step-children, including Pamela (Marty) Martinez; 2 grandchildren: Steven B. Kann and Michelle P. Kann-Jaecques; 3 step-grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 6 step great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands: Remy Peeters and Ahti Pakka; and her brother Charles.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial service will be held at a later date.
