Orville Evert Cox, Jr.

Orville E. Cox, Jr., age 84 of Luzerne, Michigan, passed away at his daughter’s home in Roscommon, Michigan on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.

Orville was born in Port Huron, Michigan on October 1, 1940 to Orville and Marie (Shea) Cox, Sr. He married Joan Fields in Port Huron on July 11, 1959 in Port Huron, and they lived there until 1973, when they moved to Luzerne, Michigan in July. Orville was a Jack-of-All Trades. He was a member of the Teamsters, The Luzerne American Legion Post #162, and the Mio Moose Lodge #1035. He also had coached Little League when he was younger. Orville was an avid fisherman who also enjoyed archery, hunting, bowling, tubing/canoeing on the AuSable River, BINGO, playing Michigan Lottery, and spending time with his family and friends.

Orville is survived by his children: Carol Good, Timothy (Cheri) Cox, and Annette (George) Cox; his sisters: Deborah Cox and Rosanna Cox; his brothers: Timothy Michael (Mary) Cox, Walter (Lorna) Cox and Jamie Cox; his grandchildren: Stacy (Reene), Danielle, Timothy, Jr. (Stacey), Crystal (Chase), Amanda (Joe), Amber (Brady), and Robert Jr., his Great Grandsons: Zach and Corey; and his Great Nieces “Granddaughters”: Brittany Rease and Summer White. He is also survived by 26 Great-Grandchildren, 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Orville was preceded in death by his parents: Orville Sr. and Marie Cox; his wife Joan Cox; his siblings: Delbert, Terry, Harvey, Stevie, Ronnie, Joyce, and Linda; his granddaughter Tonya; and his great-granddaughters Danica and Marie.

Visitation on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 from 11 AM – 1 PM at the Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI, with Funeral Services at 1 PM with Pastor Amber Billman officiating. Interment to follow at Luzerne Cemetery, Luzerne, Michigan. Luncheon will follow the service at the Luzerne American Legion Post.
