Oman Wilson, Jr., age 78 of Mio, Michigan, passed away at Munson Health Care - Grayling Hospital in Grayling, Michigan on Tuesday, October 8, 2024.
Oman was born in Appalachia, Virginia on May 26, 1946, to Oman and Myrtle Marie (Ramey) Wilson, Sr. He served his country in the US Army. Oman settled back in Mio in 2009. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Mio and the Knights of Columbus. Oman enjoyed western movies, going flea marketing and garage sales, spending time at the beach, and sneaking out for strawberry shortcake. He loved black licorice and soft mint candies.
Oman is survived by his children: James Wilson of Grayling, MI; Michael (Tammy) Wilson of Gibsonton, FL; and Deanna (Joseph) MacIntyre of Mio, MI; his sister Kimberly (Carl) Gomoll-Billings of Yale, MI; 17 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law Sandy Wilson (Leonard wife) many nieces and nephews, and a special niece “Sherry Lynn”. Oman was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Adriana, his sons Joseph and Leonard, his grandchildren: Kenzlee and James “Jimbo”, and his sister Linda Lou.
Visitation on Wednesday, October16, 2024 from 5 – 8 PM at the Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI, with a Vigil Prayer Service at 7 PM offered by Fr. Santiago Hoyumpa. He will also lie in state from 10 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church, Mio, MI, which will be celebrated by Fr, Santiago Hoyumpa. Interment will follow the Mass at Luzerne Cemetery, Luzerne, Michigan.
