Okie Weldon Kauffman

Okie W. Kauffman, age 87 of Fairview, Michigan, passed away at his home on Wednesday, October 9, 2019.

Okie was born in Mio, Michigan on October 8, 1932 to Harry and Jeneva (Kaufman) Kauffman. He worked as a logger most of his life. Okie was a member of the Fairview Mennonite Church. He enjoyed reading, deer hunting, traveling, snowmobiling, his 4-wheeler, and old-time country music and gospel. His favorite spots were Yellowstone National Park and his U.P. cabin "Camp Okie-Dokey".

Okie is survived by his wife Dorothy of Fairview, MI; 2 sons: Kenton Kauffman (Charlene Chirillo) of Sarasota, FL and Scott (Kat) Kauffman of Nokomis, FL; 5 grandchildren: Jeremiah, Caroline, Justin, Nathan, and Jacob; and 1 great-grandchild Paxton. He is also survived by his brother Tom Kauffman of Fairview, MI; his sisters: Loretta Troyer of Mio, MI, Delta Partlo of West Branch, MI, and Elsie Neorr of Twining, MI; and his son-in-law Scott Taylor of Mio, MI. Okie was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter Keri Taylor in 2015; his sisters: Regina Kauffman and Fern Egli; and his brothers: Wayne Kauffman, Dennis Kauffman, and Arlen Kauffman.

Visitation on Friday, October 11, 2019 from 5 – 8PM at the Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI. Okie will also lie in state on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at the Fairview Mennonite Church, Fairview, MI from 10 AM until Funeral Services at 11 AM with Pastor David Price officiating. In accordance with his wishes, cremation will follow the services.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials can be made to the Compassion Fund c/o Fairview Mennonite Church, P.O. Box 100, Fairview, MI 48621.
