Norma Louise Troyer, 78, of Mio, died Sunday, December 28, 2008, at her home, surrounded by family, after a short battle with cancer.
Visitation 4-8 PM Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at Lashley Funeral Home. Funeral Services Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Fairview Mennonite Church with Pastors Eldon Krider and Virgil Hershberger officiating. Interment at Fairview Cemetery.
Norma was born September 14, 1930, to Elmer and Alice (Kauffman) Reber, in Fairview, where she lived her entire life. In her youth, Norma accepted Christ and has been a faithful member of the Fairview Mennonite Church. On September 15, 1950, she married Emmerson Troyer of Mio, and they had four children.
Being a wife, mother, and grandmother was an important part of Norma's life. She was employed at Fairview Area Schools for 24 years. After retirement, Norma enjoyed doing volunteer work, reading, gardening, quilting and cooking.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Emmerson; daughter Ardis (Dean) Miller of Mio; Rodney (Sherry) Troyer of Mio; Brenda (David) Kauffman of Fairview; and Kyle Troyer of East Tawas; seven grandchildren: Brandon Miller, Tonia (Jason) Kaczmarek, Nicholas (Aleesha) Troyer, Keith (Jessica) Troyer, Verena (Michael) Williamson, Almanzo and Alex Kauffman; and brother Ronald (Dora) Reber.
Norma was preceeded in death by her parents, and brothers and sisters Alton, Grant, Mavis Esch, Katherine Esch, Melva Maris, and an infant sister.
