Nancy (Rose) Stewart, of Mio, Michigan, passed away at The Villa of Rose City on Wednesday, November 15, 2017.
Nancy was born in Pontiac, Michigan on May 29, 1939 to Percy& Ruth Rose and was raised in Goodrich, MI. She graduated from Waterford High School, and then went on to Central Michigan College, where she graduated with honors. She was a Phys. Ed. Teacher and also taught English at Lake Shore High School in St. Clair Shores, MI. Nancy married Will Stewart and moved to Mio, MI in 1965. She loved to bowl and served as president of the M.W.B. (Michigan Women’s Bowling Association) for 14 years. Nancy was a partner in business with Bette Hardy. They opened the first pizza shop in Mio, and called it "The Pizza Oven". They also shared a seasonal wreath business for several years. Nancy and Bette later operated "Flyin’ R Pizza" in the basement of the Sky Ranch. These were all fun and wonderful years. Nancy was also known for her talent in the upholstery business, which she operated until she became ill. She enjoyed BINGO, casinos, and spending time with her family. She was a wonderful friend to many.
Nancy is survived by her sister Patricia Hoffman, her brother James Rose, and her dear friend, Bette Hardy.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 1 PM at the Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI, with Mr. Ron Thomey officiating.
