Michael Edward Willobee

Michael E. Willobee (Mike), age 69 of Mio, Michigan, left his earthly life on August 20, 2023 after a decades-long battle with Parkinson’s disease that he fought with bravery, dignity, and unwavering optimism.

Mike was born on June 24, 1954 to Edward (Ted) and Irene (Griggs) Willobee of Luzerne. On June 21, 1974, he married his high-school sweetheart, Sandra (Wing) Willobee, and together they raised three sons: Michael (Kimberli) of Beech Island, South Carolina, Marshall (Sheila) of Cedar, Michigan, and Matthew Trevor (Kathryn) of Rochester, New Hampshire.

Mike worked at Kneeland Industries in Mio for thirty years and served as a treasurer and assistant treasurer for many years at the Mio Baptist Church, where he was also a long-time member.

Mike loved the outdoors, sports, trucks, and heavy equipment and approached each of his hobbies with unmatched enthusiasm that soon became his hallmark. He was outgoing, easy to talk to, quick to laugh, and even quicker to lend a hand. Mike genuinely loved people and was happiest when he was helping someone.

Mike is survived by his wife and children, nine grandchildren: Tristan, Mitchell, Mischa, Adeline, Lennon, Evelyn, Magnolia, Sawyer, and Wesley; two step-grandchildren: Jordan and Avery; as well as his sisters: Sue Willobee, Sandy (Pat) Sposato, and brothers: Dave (Linda) Marshall, Mark (Rochelle), Jody (Barb), and Jeff (Barb) Willobee. Mike is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Doug Marshall.

Mike will be remembered for his affable character, strong faith, and unfaltering loyalty to his family and friends.

Visitation on Thursday, August 24, 2023 from 11 AM – 1 PM at the Mio Baptist Church, Mio, MI, with Funeral Services at 1 PM with Pastor Glynn McMorris officiating. Interment will follow at Mentor Township Cemetery, Mio, Michigan.
