Michael was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 30, 1956 to William and Margaret (Mathers) Gambrel. He owned Blue Chip Industries at the beginning of his career; and for the last decade and a half worked at HB Carbide until his death. After obtaining his GED, Michael received his associate’s degree and many certificates. He went on to receive his Bachelor’s later in life.
