Michael F. Dejarlais

March 11, 1945 — December 11, 2015

Michael Frederick DeJarlais entered eternity on Friday morning, December 11, 2015 at his home in Curran due to natural causes.
Mike, son of the late Harry and Cora DeJarlais, was born March 11, 1945. He was born and lived in Curran his whole life, except for the few years when he lived and worked down state.
Mike graduated from Fairview High School where he enjoyed playing basketball and ran track. Later in his life, Mike became a self- taught man. He could build or repair anything that was needed, usually without a pattern or directions in his shop where he often worked far into the night.
A kind and generous man, Mike cared for his mother in his home until her death on November 13, 2014. He often put the needs of others ahead of his own. Mike’s home was available for many youth who needed a safe haven and a non-judgmental person to mentor them.
Mike is survived by his three children Michelle (Allan) Davisson and their children Lauren, Taylor and James; Mitchell (Christina) DeJarlais and their children Madelynn and Jacob; Michael J “Shorty” (Lindsey) DeJarlais and their children Kayla, Kyleigh, Hannah, Jenna, Michael J. II, Laken, and Lainee; his great granddaughter Kenzlee and a second great granddaughter to arrive in March; his sisters Ellen Volpe, Judy Anderson (Carl Wick), nieces and nephews Barton (Annie) Volpe, Patrick (Mimi) Volpe, Kelly Anderson and Brian (Mary) Anderson, and his Aunt Nellie (Allen) Pierce.
Visitation and funeral was conducted at The Christ Our Life Church (Curran Baptist church) Wednesday, December 16, with the graveside service and burial at Mitchell Township Cemetery. The service was conducted by David Cokonougher and Lashley Funeral Home in Mio was entrusted with his arrangements.
