Michael E. Butler

Mr. Michael E. Butler, age 70 of Mio, passed away Thursday, November 25, 2010, at his home in Mio, Michigan.
Mike was born on September 17, 1940 in Highland Park, MI to Vincent and Margaret (Cowhy) Butler.  He served his country in the US Marine Corps from 1958-1961.  He married Barbara on April 28, 1962 in Detroit.  The couple lived in Detroit and Dearborn Heights where Mike worked for Central Transport as a Dock Foreman, retiring in 2002. When his children were in school, he was active in his sonsâ?? athletic programs as Athletic Director and Coach.  In 2002, Mike and Barb moved to Mio where he was an active member of the Mio United Methodist Church.  He enjoyed deer hunting and puttering around the house and yard.
Mike is survived by his wife Barbara; his children: Michael (Deborah) Butler; Daniel (Cassie) Butler; Beth (Robert) Petrik; and Timothy Butler; his sisters: Doni Steele and Sr. Beth Butler, O.P.; his brother Terry (Judy) Butler; his grandchildren: Dominick, Jake, Andrew, Josh, Sarah, Grace and Henry; and his dogs Heidi & Otis.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Robert Butler.
Visitation on Monday, November 29, 2010, from 1-4 and 5-9 PM at Lashley Funeral Home, Mio; and again from 10 AM until the time of Funeral service at 11 AM on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at Mio United Methodist Church with Pastor Marcel Lamb officiating.  Interment and Military Honors at Mentor Township Cemetery, Mio, Michigan.
