Michael D. Banfill

Michael Dayton Banfill, age 80 of Mio, Michigan, passed away at his home on Friday, July 6, 2018.

Michael was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 28, 1938 to Leo and Marie (Campbell) Banfill. He served his country in the US Navy for many years, including wartime. After his service, he worked for Chrysler Sterling Plant, retiring in December 1998 after 33 years of service. He married Joyce on April 12, 1997 in Roseville, Michigan. The couple moved to Mio in January 1999 from Sterling Heights, Michigan. Michael was a member of the Mio Moose Lodge, and also a former member of the Luzerne American Legion Post. He enjoyed playing horseshoes for the Mio Moose league.

Michael is survived by his wife Joyce of Mio, MI; his children: Laura Jorge of New Port, RI and Nicole Banfill of Lewiston, MI; his stepchildren: Nathan (Dee) Rowe of Macomb, MI and Stacy Hooper of Port Huron, MI; 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister and 1 brother.

Visitation on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM at the Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI, with Military honors at 2:00 PM offered by the Luzerne American Legion Post. In accordance with his wishes, cremation will follow the services.

Memorial donations may be made to Munson Hospice-Grayling.
