Melvin J. Bontrager

Melvin J. Bontrager, born January 16, 1938 in LaGrange, Indiana, died February 8, 2014 at West Branch Regional Medical Center after a period of declining health, age 76 years and 23 days.
He leaves to mourn him his wife of 50 years Mary Jane Bontrager; his 5 sons and 6 daughters: Ruth Ann Bontrager of Mio, MI; Barbara (Howard) Hochstetler of Gold Creek, MT; Dennis (Viola) Bontrager of Osseo, WI; Reuben (Naomi Ruth) Bontrager of Mio, MI; Lester (Velma) Bontrager of Mio, MI; Laura (Mark) Yoder of Mio, MI; Joseph (Norma) Bontrager of Mio, MI; David (Bertha) Bontrager of Mio, MI; Katie (Earl) Lehman of Mio, MI; Edith Bontrager of Elkhart, IN; and Martha (Jacob) Byler of Mio, MI; 63 grandchildren, and many friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother and 1 sister.
The family wishes to thank everyone for their many prayers, donations, and support through Melvin’s extended illness.
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 9, 2014 from 2-8 PM at the family home at 1064 W. Kittle Road, Mio, MI; and on Monday, February 10, 2014 from 2-8 PM at the Marion Bontrager Residence at 287 Galbraith Road, Mio, MI, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at 9:30 AM. Interment will follow at the Amish Kittle Cemetery, Mio, MI.
