Mrs. Maxine Genevieve Bigelow, age 82, of McKinley, passed away Wednesday, May 7th, 2008 at The Home at AuSable Valley Community, Fairview.
Visitation Saturday 3-7 PM at The Lashley Funeral Home, Mio. Funeral Services at the funeral home at 3:00 PM on Sunday, May 11th, with Reverend David Dee officiating. Interment at Mentor Township Cemetery, Mio.
Maxine was born on May 2, 1926 in Flint, MI to the late Clarence & Bertha (Lysher) Hacker. She was raised in Millington where she met and married Edmund C. Bigelow on September 11, 1943. The couple moved to McKinley in 1954. Maxine and Ed owned and operated the McKinley Grocery for many years until retiring in 1967. She was a charter member of The Mio Moose Lodge #1035 and served as its first Senior Reagent. She was also a member of the Auxiliary for The McKinley Fire Department and enjoyed reading, crocheting, crafting and quilting.
Maxine is survived by a daughter Sandra (Russell) Hager of McKinley; a son Ronald (Connie) Bigelow of Vassar; a brother, Clifford (Kathy) Hacker of Millington; 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edmund, a granddaughter: Karen Plemon, 1 brother and 2 sisters.
