Mavis Ann Marsh

October 23, 1930 — February 15, 2021

Mavis Marsh, age 90, passed away at home surrounded by family on February 15, 2021.

Mavis was born October 23, 1930 to Lloyd & Ila Bugg. She grew up in Flynn Valley area north of Curran, and later moved to Mio where her first job was working at the soda fountain at Whitney’s Drugstore where she met and later married George Marsh Jr on June 15, 1951. Together they raised five children and farmed 250+ Acres raising beef cattle, all while both working full time. Mavis worked at Fairview Area Schools 1960-63 followed by Mio AuSable Schools from 1965-87 as the Secretary to the Superintendent. Mavis & George both retired December 31, 1987. She enjoyed traveling throughout the continental US, Canada and Alaska. Her many hobbies include sewing, having made over 200 baby quilts, and other quilts for family and friends and baking treats for when family came to visit. Mavis & George enjoyed traveling in their Model A car clubs, competing in car shows, and together restored old cars with Mavis doing the upholstery. Mavis also loved outdoor activities including camping and fishing. But her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Mavis is survived by her five children; Rodney (Sherry) Marsh, Connie Turner, Roger (Brenda) Marsh, Craig (Kathy) Marsh and Tracie Wilson, twelve grandchildren; Clint (Robin) Turner, Ashley (Michelle) Marsh, Clay Turner, Michael Dack, Stacey Reinke, Chris (Elisa) Dack, Travis Marsh, Shane Bick, Jamie Bick, TC (Samantha) Marsh, Casey (Anne) Bick, Randi (Chris) Thiebaut, thirteen great-grandchildren; Lexus Marsh, Olivia Dack, Sawyer Dack, River Dack, Brandon Bernard, Noah Tapp, Meredith Turner, Madison Turner, Stevie McQuiston-Bick, Sydney McQuiston-Bick, Kyler Marsh, Kinsley Marsh, Ezekiel Marsh, three sisters; Elsie Bixel, Marie McIntyre, Helen (Richard) Dew, and one brother Ted Burke.

She was preceded in death by her husband George after 66 years of marriage, her parents, Lloyd & Ila Bugg, three brothers; James Bugg, Leland (Slip) Bugg, Tom Bugg, one sister Doris Mast, and her great-grandson Taylor Marsh.

Visitation on Friday, February 19, 2021 from 1 PM – 4 PM and 6PM – 8 PM at the Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI.

Private Funeral Services will be held at a later date, with Final interment in Kittle Cemetery.

A Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
