Mary Esther Squire, 90, of Mio, passed away peacefully Friday, March 20th, 2009 at her residence.

Visitation Monday 23, 2009 from 3-9 P.M.at Lashley Funeral Home, Mio with a Vigil Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M. offered by St. Maryâ??s Parish.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary Catholic Church, Mio, MI, at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 24th, with Father Raymond Cotter officiating. Interment at Fairview Cemetery .

Mary was born on February 16, 1919 in Guadalajara, Mexico.She worked as a secretary in Mexico. Upon moving to the U.S.at age 21, she worked at Winkleman's as a seamstress in Detroit for 30 years, and she had worked at Federal's Department Store in Detroit and at Harry's Department Store in Detroit as a salesperson. Mary moved to Fairview in 1996, from Brighton, MI to be near her daughter. She had attended St. Mary Catholic Church in Mio. She was a beautiful seamstress who also enjoyed gardening.

She was the widow of Charles Squire, and also was preceded in death by her first husband, Clarence Wilson, 6 siblings, and her son Michael Wilson. Mary leaves behind her daughter, Patricia Carpenter of Mio; 6 Grandchildren: John Carpenter of Milford; Matt (Christine) Carpenter of Brighton; Christina (Kevin) Bode of Arizona; and Jason, Justin & Jennifer Wilson of Howell , 6 Great Grandchildren: Ashley, Tristen, Ethan, Kylie, Hannah & Mattie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to Mercy Hospice; 201 Meadows Drive Suite A, Grayling, MI 49738, in Maryâ??s name.
