Mrs. Mary T. McVeigh, age 86, of Mio, passed away Thursday, January 1, 2009 at Covenant Health Care Systems â?? Cooper in Saginaw, MI.

Visitation Sunday, January 4, 2009 from 1-9 P.M. at Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI, with a Vigil Service offered by St. Mary Parish, Mio by Fr. Raymond Cotter at 7 P.M., followed by a Rosary offered by the K of C Auxiliary at 7:30 P.M., and from 10 A.M. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial offered on Monday, January 5, 2009 at 11 A.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Mio, with Fr. Raymond Cotter officiating. Interment at Mentor Township Cemetery, Mio.

Mrs. McVeigh was born on February 20, 1922 in Auchenlach, Scotland to Andrew and Annie (Thompson) McMurtrie. She moved to Detroit at the age of 5. Mary married Cletus ""Mac"" McVeigh on January 11, 1947. They moved to Mio in August of 1973. Mary was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Mio, and the 4th Degree Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus #7329. She enjoyed camping and travelling.

Mrs. McVeigh is survived by her husband Cletus ""Mac"" McVeigh; her children: James (Beverly) McVeigh of Mio; Thomas (Jeannette) McVeigh of Mio; and Janet (Brett) Winslow of West Branch; her six grandchildren: Jennifer, Chris, Danielle, Todd, Andrew, and Aaron; and her great grandsons Gavin and Gabe. She was preceded in death by her parents and 5 brothers.
