Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Shoulders

Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Shoulders, age 82 of Mio, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 3, 2014.
Betty was born in Detroit, Michigan on June 22, 1931 to Stuart and Ora B. (Williams) Meil. She and her husband Tom raised their family in Allen Park, Michigan; and Betty retired with Tom, moving to Mio in 1988. She was a member of Mio Baptist Church; and was also a member of “The Au Sable Valley A’s”: a Model A car club. She was in charge of period fashions for the members and was also a driver. Betty also enjoyed painting.
Betty is survived by her husband Thomas D. Shoulders of Mio, MI; her children: Charles (Paula) Shoulders of Brighton, MI; Sherril (Vincent) Griffin of Redford, MI; Tom Shoulders of Rochester Hills, MI; and Mark (Melissa) Shoulders of Surprise, AZ; her brother William (Marie) Meil; her grandchildren: Rachael, Carmen, Montana, Sarah, Stephanie, Ryland, Jacob, Nicholas, and Ryan; and her great- grandchildren: Robert Lee, Royce, Brielle, Payton, and Kensie. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son Timothy Shoulders; and her grandson Adam.
Visitation on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 from 2-4 and from 6-8 PM at the Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, Michigan; and again on Thursday, March 6, 2014 from 10 AM until the time of Funeral Services at 11 AM at Mio Baptist Church with Pastor Glynn McMorris and Mr. Robert Carpenter officiating. Interment at Mentor Township Cemetery, Mio, Michigan.
