Mrs. Mary June Donahue, age 83, of Mio, passed away at her home Thursday, September 20th, 2007.
Visitation Friday 1-4 and 6-9 PM with The Prayer Vigil Service at 7:00 PM followed by a Recitation of The Rosary at The Lashley Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary Catholic Church, Mio, MI, at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 22nd with Fr. Raymond Cotter officiating Interment at Kittle Cemetery, Mio.
Mary June was born on June 23, 1924 in Detroit to The late Harry & June (Lively) Mobley. She was raised in Highland Park where she graduated from St. Benedict Catholic School in 1943. She entered The US Army Nurse Cadet Corps., graduating from St. Mary's College, Detroit with her with her nursing degree in 1947. Mary June married William Paul Donahue on August 23, 1952 at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Detroit. She had worked as a Registered Nurse at Michigan Osteopathic Medical Center, Detroit, for more than 35 years, retiring in 1986 and then moving to Mio.
Mary June was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church Mio, where she served as Eucharistic Minister and Lector and had been awarded the Parish Volunteer of The Year Award. She was active in the activities of Our Lady of the Woods Shrine and Right To Life and enjoyed traveling worldwide.
Surviving are her daughters: Patricia June Donahue and Elizabeth Violet Donahue both of Spruce, MI; son: Paul William (Judith) Donahue of Hubbard Lake, MI; 3 grandchildren: David (Clarissa); Sarah and Mary Lynn, and 2 great grandchildren: Wenton and Josephine.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband William Paul Donahue and her lifelong friend Mildred Rosebrugh formerly of West Branch.
