Mary Louise Demott

September 7, 1938 — December 5, 2022

Mary Louise (Nutt) DeMott died at home on December 5, 2022.
Mary was born in Flint, Michigan and married Ron DeMott in 1956. They shared sixty-six happy years together. Mary worked as the Executive Secretary at Genesee Intermediate School District for special needs children before she retired in 1990. She taught Sunday School and children's church and served as a Sunday School Superintendent. As a teacher, she was known to keep children on the edges of their seats with her telling of Missionary stories. When she and Ron retired, they moved to Mio, Michigan and built their home together - she even helped install the roof trusses! Mary was involved with many organizations and projects and stayed busy throughout her retirement. She and Ron traveled around the state with their music ministry, she spoke at women's conferences, sat on the Board of Steiner Museum, and was the Editor of the Wilderness Chronicle. She was an early Board member of His Love Family Resources, and was the Treasurer there. she was a founding member of the Yarn Angels; a group of knitters who made and distributed hats, scarves, and gloves to local schools and veteran's homes. Throughout her life she had a passion for reading, research, and writing. She had articles published in many magazines and devotionals. She authored two children's books, co-authored two books documenting the stories of military veterans, and wrote two Sunday School curriculums. Mary shared her love of writing when she taught a creative writing class for a local home school group. she was proud when she talked of the stories the children had written. When Mary was not writing or volunteering, she enjoyed sitting with Ron and watching the deer, raccoons, birds, and even a big black bear on their wooded property.
Mary is survived by her husband Ron; her four children: Dan, Cindy (Randall), Teresa (John), and Rachel; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Although she will be desperately missed by her family, they are confident that she is at peace with the Lord.
