Mary Lou Cumston

Mary L. Cumston, age 68 of Fairview, Michigan, passed away at her home on Wednesday, May 13, 2015.
Mary was born in Saginaw, Michigan on August 2, 1946 to Wesley and Persis (Dew) Hager. The family moved to Fairview when she was 2 years old.  Mary attended Fairview Schools, graduating in 1964. She married George Cumston at the Faith Lutheran Church in Bridgeport, MI on June 4, 1966. The couple lived in the Saginaw & Bay City area until moving back to Fairview in 2005, after George’s retirement.  Mary was a homemaker, who volunteered at Abbe’s Backlot Greenhouse.  She enjoyed gardening and loved spending time with her family and grandson.
Mary is survived by her husband George of Fairview, MI; her children: Scott (Miranda) Cumston of Monroe, OH and Shawn Cumston of Bay City, MI; her sister Mildred (Paul) Mastos of Grand Rapids, MI; her brother Dayton “Del” Goodrich of Fairview, MI; and her grandson Alexander Cumston.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Eleanor; her sister-in-law Alice Goodrich; and her daughter-in-law Melissa Cumston.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at 11 AM at the Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI with Pastor Brenda Klacking of the Mio United Methodist Church officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Helping Hands, West Branch, MI.
