Mary Ann Passmore, age 79 of Mio, Michigan, passed away at her home on Sunday, September 14, 2014.
Mary Ann was born in Ashley, Michigan on March 1, 1935 to Steve and Mildred (Loznak) Bakita. She married Gerald Passmore on September 11, 1954 in Bannister, MI. The couple lived in Saginaw and Bay City before settling in Mio in 1958. She had worked as a teacher’s aide and as librarian for Mio AuSable Schools, retiring after 27 years. Mary Ann was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Mio. She had enjoyed cooking, baking and spoiling her grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered as a wonderful wife and mother; and by all the kids she got to know through her years at Mio AuSable Schools. Her “smile” will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband Jerry Passmore of Mio, MI; her children: Jeff (Jan) Passmore of Jackson, MI; Carla (Roger) Passmore of Albany, Oregon; Luke Passmore of Mio, MI and Karen (John) McPheeters of Corvallis, Oregon; her sister Jeanne (Jim) Butler; her brothers: Steve (Dorothy) Bakita and Richard (Sue) Bakita; and her 7 grandchildren: Kimberly, Tommy, Brandon, Ashlee, Shelby, Cole and Jakob. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Tommy Bakita.
Visitation on Friday, September 19, 2014 from 4-9PM at Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, Michigan, with a Vigil Prayer Service and Rosary offered by St. Mary Parish, Mio, MI at beginning at 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 10 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church, Mio, MI, with Fr. Santiago Hoyumpa as Celebrant. In accordance with her wishes, cremation will follow the Mass. Interment of ashes at Mentor Township Cemetery, Mio, MI.
Memorial donations may be made to the St. Mary Shrine Endowment Fund.
