Marjorie Damitz

Mrs. Marjorie V. Damitz, age 86, of Fairview, MI, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2011, at Mercy Hospital in Grayling.

Marjorie was born on October 17, 1924 in Detroit, Michigan to Norman and Violet (Kernon) Mitchell.  She married Clyde Oley Damitz on September 17, 1942 in Detroit.  The family lived in Southfield, MI until retiring to Fairview in 1980.  Marjorie was deeply devoted to her husband.  She was also a devoted mother and grandmother.  She enjoyed crocheting and spending weekends with her husband on Lake Huron in Oscoda.

Marjorie is survived by her husband of 68 years Clyde O. Damitz of Fairview; her children: Greg Damitz of Fairview; Wayne (Nancy) Damitz of White Lake, MI; and Clayton Damitz of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; her 7 grandchildren:  Beth Ann (Rob), Debi (Jeff), Eddie (Theresa), Wendy (Rick), Christopher, Robert, and Melissa, and her 12 great-grandchildren .She is also survived by her sister Violet (James) McGowan of New Orleans, LA, her son-in-law Rick Ekey of Las Vegas, NV, and numerous nieces and nephews.  Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Sharon Ekey, her brother William Mitchell, and a great granddaughter.

Visitation Saturday, May 28, 2011 from 11AM until the time of funeral services at 2:00 PM at Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI with Pastor Mike Stadelmayer officiating.  In accordance with her wishes, cremation will follow the service.

Memorial Donations may be made to the Alzheimerâ??s Association or to the American Heart Association.
