Marie Esther Harrington

Marie E. Harrington, age 86 of Kentwood, Michigan, formerly of Fairview, Michigan, passed away at Azpira Place of Breton in Kentwood on Wednesday, September 11, 2019.

Marie was born in Warren, Pennsylvania on December 4, 1932 to Paul and Jane (Flood) Klenck.  She married Donald Harrington in Warren, PA at Marie’s home on May 31, 1952. The couple moved to Ann Arbor, MI in 1956, and settled in Fairview in 1957. Marie worked as a Medical Technologist for Dr. Benjamin Palmer and Fairview Medical Center. She also taught German and Chemistry at Fairview High School in 1968. She was a member of the Fairview Mennonite Church and also the Hetherton Reformed Presbyterian Church. Marie was artistic:  she enjoyed painting, sewing, scrapbooking, and crafting. She also was an avid reader and loved taking care of her children and family.  She will always be fondly remembered as a great cook.

Marie is survived by her children:  Steven (Coleen) Harrington of Washington, MI; Nancy Harrington of Wyoming, MI; Timothy Harrington of Mosinee, WI; and Cynthia (Todd) Hogan of Midland, MI; 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; her son-in-law Tom Forest of Orlando, FL; and her sister-in-law Geri Klenck of Pennsylvania.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald in 2013, her daughter Rebecca Forest, her brother David Klenck, and her grandson Josh.

Visitation on Monday, September 16, 2019 from 12 Noon-1 PM at the Fairview Mennonite Church, Fairview, MI, with Funeral Services at 1 PM with Pastor Kevin Salsbury officiating. Interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Fairview, Michigan.
