Margaret Mary Kauffman

Margaret Galbraith Kauffman, age 90 of Midland, Michigan passed away peacefully at home in the
loving care of her family on January 14, 2017 after suffering a stroke in late December. Margaret was
born in Mio, Michigan on January 10, 1927 to Mary & George Galbraith. In 1946 she married
Frederick Lloyd Kauffman of Fairview, Michigan. The two settled in Kawkawlin, Michigan where they
raised their five children. Margaret and Fred owned and operated Kauffman Appliance in Kawkawlin,
Michigan & The Fairview Hill Golf Course in Mio, Michigan for decades. Frederick preceded her in
death in March of 1987. Margaret leaves behind four children, Joan Ann Kauffman (Tom
Strausbaugh) of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Jean Kauffman Mathieson of Holly Springs, North Carolina,
James Frederick Kauffman of Saginaw, Michigan and Jennifer Kauffman McCann (Randy) of
Kawkawlin, Michigan. Her son, John George Kauffman & daughter in law, Jody Kauffman preceded
Margaret in death in 2002. Her 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, her sister, Agnes Klemens
of Alpena, Michigan, and her brother, Tim Galbraith of Mio, Michigan and many dear nieces and
nephews, also survive Margaret. A funeral mass will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mio,
Michigan on Wednesday, January 18, 2016 at 11 AM with Fr. Santiago Hoyumpa officiating. The family will receive visitors at the church
from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place at Kittle Cemetery in Mio, Michigan
immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the restoration
fund for Our Lady Of The Woods Shrine in Mio, Michigan.
