Lyle E. Carter

February 27, 1939 — August 10, 2024

Lyle E. Carter passed away peacefully at his home
surrounded by family, on August 10, 2024. Born in
Rust Township, Michigan, on February 27, 1939 to
the late Miles and Gladys Carter. Lyle lived a life full
of love, dedication and service.
He married the love of his life, Bonnie (Schneider),
on November 13, 1965. They enjoyed 58 wonderful
years together before her passing in December
2023.
He is predeceased by his siblings Emma, Arlene,
Dorothy, Thelma, Ben, and Lorna.
He leaves behind his son, Scott (Audrey) Carter, and
daughter, Judy Carter. His cherished grandchildren,
Maeona Carter (Derek), Benjamin (Amy) Carter,
Korrin Carter (Kevin), Kyle (Hannah) Smith, Jordan
(Kellie) Carter, and Breanne Smith (Dominic), will
forever remember the warmth and wisdom of their
grandfather. Lyle was blessed with
great-grandchildren Oona, Landen, Emmett, Declan,
Aidan, Kalan, Violet, and Paisley, who will carry
forward his gentle spirit.
His brother, Lynn (Sharon) Carter, also survives him,
sharing in the lasting memories of their bond.
A proud and active member of the Comins Eagles
Aerie 3544, Lyle served diligently as a Trustee for
many years. His commitment to the community
extended to his service in the U.S. Army, where he
dedicated four years to his country. In 1965, Lyle
began his long and fulfilling career with the
Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad, retiring after 35
years of dedicated service.
Lyle was a man of many passions. He delighted in
the company of friends, often gathering for spirited
card games. He enjoyed playing pool with friends as
well. He found joy and solace in puttering around
his yard and woodworking in his beloved workshop.
His hands crafted not just wood but memories and
moments that his family will cherish forever.
A memorial and celebration of Lyle’s remarkable life
will be held with friends and family at the Comins
Eagles Aerie 3544 on September 7, 2024, from 1:00
to 4:00 PM. In this gathering, we will honor a life
well-lived, a man well-loved, and a legacy that will
endure.
