Lois Mitchell

Lois Jean (Buchanan) Mitchell was born in Luzerne, Michigan on October 4th 1923, one of twelve children born to Arthur Buchanan and Jennie May (Teets) Buchanan. Lois married Everett ""Pick"" Mitchell April 22, 1940 with whom she would spend the next 61 years, until his death in 2001. During their years of marriage they raised four boys; Charles (Virginia), Gary (Carol), Ronald, and Joe (Kathi).  Lois became a Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and a Great-Great Grandmother. Over the years, she worked as a housewife, waitress, and house keeper. She thoroughly enjoyed sewing, cooking for her family and all her friends, and absolutely loved her garden. She was a wonderful woman to have as a mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend. At the age of 88, Lois was reunited with ""Pick"" on the morning of November 14, 2011 when she passed away comfortably in her bed at the AuSable Valley Community home in Fairview, surrounded by family members who shared many tears and fond memories of time spent with her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Art and Jennie Buchanan, brothers Bill and Don Troyer, sisters Evelyn McManus, Mary Lewis, and Irene Reynolds, husband Everett ""Pick"" Mitchell, sons Charles ""Butch"" and Gary Mitchell, and grandson, Jay Mitchell.
Cremation has taken place per her wishes, and a celebration of her life will take place at 12:00 PM on Sunday, November 27, 2011, at the Luzerne Northwoods Club in Luzerne. Interment of Ashes at Luzerne Cemetery.
