Linda Ann Stephan

Linda Ann Stephan, age 81 of Grayling, Michigan, passed away at Munson Hospital - Grayling on Sunday, September 8, 2024.

Linda was born in Owosso, Michigan on May 26, 1943, daughter of Murvin and Lelah Haskell. She graduated from Perry High School in 1961, then attended Mercy School of Nursing in Cadillac and Grayling. While living in Grayling with her aunt & uncle (Beatrice & Art Thayer) as she was finishing her LPN training, Linda met Lawrence Stephan. They married on September 28, 1963. Linda worked as an LPN for 2 years at Mercy Hospital in Grayling, then took a few years off to be a full-time “Mom”. She then worked for 31 years, mostly as a parapro for Crawford AuSable Schools. Linda gave the best hugs! She was an excellent cook who enjoyed reading, word searches, crocheting, knitting and sewing. She grew some incredible gardens, hunted deer (she was the 1st woman on the Buck Pole many times), picked berries, went to tractor shows, took trail rides, walked the beaches picking up shells or rocks (Pudding stones were her absolute favorite!), and loved spoiling her grandkids!

Surviving Linda are her husband of a few days shy of 61 years Lawrence of Grayling, MI; 2 children: Angela (Kevon) Miller and Caroline (Hank) Saylor; and 2 grandchildren: Daniel (Victoria Harvey) and Carlee Miller, also survived by Zoe (John) Horcha, Mike Gorman, many nieces, nephews and cousins and a very special (more like family) Monty & Janice Bidwell, Mary Phelps & Ken G., John & Sylvia Millikin and Jim & Cindy Green.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers: Stanley and Gary Haskell; 3 brothers-in-law: Henry, Robert, and William Stephan; and 3 sisters-in-law: Marion Haskell, Sue King, and Janet Gorman.

Linda's final wishes were respected with her gift of tissue donation (the heart on your drivers license) through the Gift of Life of Michigan. In accordance with her wishes, Linda will be cremated. Interment of ashes will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Grayling, Michigan at a later date.
