Mrs. Lillian M. Abbe, age 94, of Mio, passed away Sunday, February 25th, 2007 at Grayling Nursing & Rehabilitation Community.
Visitation Wednesday 4 - 8 PM at The Lashley Funeral Home, Mio
Funeral Services Thursday, March 1, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Mio United Methodist Church, Mio, MI, with Reverend Marcel A. Lamb officiating. Interment at Kittle Cemetery, Mio.
Lillian was born on May 12, 1912 in Hillman, MI, daughter of the late Stephen & Anna (Eddy) Cohoon.
She married Claude G. Abbe on Nov. 30, 1930 in Hillman, MI. She worked as a cook in gravel camps in Hillman area and moved to Luzerne in 1932, where the couple worked together in the woods at lumbering camps. She was a member of The Luzerne Ladies Aide Society, sewing blankets and mattress for soldiers, during W.W.II. They later moved to Mio where Lillian worked as a cook for many years at Mio - AuSable Schools, retiring in 1969. Lillian was a member of The Mio United Methodist Church. She and her husband Claude had also been assistant managers of The AuSable Valley Community Apartments.
Surviving are her daughters: Joan (Doran) Hildebrand of Cement City, MI; Deborah Betral of Milwaukee, WI; sons: Gerald (Sally) Abbe of Fairview, Vernon (Mariam) Abbe of Fairview; grandchildren: Steve Abbe, Scott Abbe, Gerrie Thomas, Shawn Abbe, Gwen Hodapp, George Hofsommer, Linda Esch, William Ray Caples, Katrina Sherwood, Kristie Troyer, Vaughn Troyer, Corinna Memenee, Heather Donahee, Tara Thompson and Brian, Phillip, Eric & Erin Hildebrand, 62 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren; sisters: Ruth Klein, Marian Hanson and Mildred Kwapis and brother Merle Cohoon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Claude G. Abbe ( (July 17, 2003), grandson Greg Abbe, and brothers: Carl, Harold, Leo, Arthur, Ralph and Russell Cohoon.
Memorials may be made to The Mio United Methodist Church.
