Leora M. "Sam" Erbe passed away peacefully, after a long bout of health
issues, at Wellsprings Lutheran Services in Fairview on April 6, 2014.
Sam was born on June 17, 1934 and settled in Oscoda County in the early
70's.
She is survived by her husband, Leon Erbe: her daughter, Lancey (Tom)
Tyree of L
i
ncoln, Nebraska, and five step-children, Delores (Dave) Yoder of
Mio, David (Merly) Erbe of Melbourne Beach, FL, Denise (Tom) Kemp of Mio, Doreen
(Roger) Wiegand of Mio, and Dena (Eric) Alderton of Rose City, her twenty
grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son Lowell "Jack" Snell of Independence,
MO and a great-grandson Derek William Kemp.
She had many hobbies and interests, including camping with the family,
fishing, reading, and Bible studies. She served as a volunteer and was
compassionately involved with the Riverhouse Women's Shelter in Grayling
.
She also served as chairman of the Republican Party of Oscoda County for
many years
.
Sam was the owner of Smith Lake Lodge during the 70's until
1988.

n the 31 years of her marriage to Leon, they enjoyed traveling to Alaska,
Texas, Florida, Nebraska, and al
l
polnts in between.
Memorial Service will be held at the United Methodist Church in Mio,
beginning at 11: 00 with Pastor Cody Gasho
officiating
the service. A
